How to Locate E-Books Using the Library Catalog

Access the Library Catalog

Perform a keyword search and limit your results to E-Books (FOR TEST USE ONLY) then click on Submit

This brings up a list of all the E-Books UA users have access to on the topic searched
UA has access to E-Books from Safari Tech, Ebsco, Gale, Ebrary, and more

If you would like to limit your results to the specific vender we purchase E-Books from you would go back and perform another keyword search this time including “and ebrary” after your search terms

When on your results page click on the title of the book to view more information about the E-Book

Once in the E-Books record you can see even more information about the book by clicking on Full Record

To access the E-Book click on the link that says Connect to title online (UA network users only)

How to identify an e-book’s availability for download

Once in the ebrary interface you can view:
  • How many copies are available
  • How many copies the college has access to
  • Availability to read online
  • Number of pages that can be copied
  • Number of pages that can be printed
  • Availability for full download
  • How many days it can be checked out for

If you would like to open the E-Book to read online click on the Read Online link, if you are off campus you will be asked for your uanet id and password

Once in the ebrary Reader you have different options on how you want to read through the book, you can:
  • Scroll through the pages
  • Search the book for a specific topic using the search box
  • Skip to a specific chapter using the table of contents
  • Go to a specific page number

On the bar at the top of the e-book you can:
  • Download a chapter and save it as a pdf
  • Copy a section of the book
  • Print a section of the book
  • Get a citation
  • Share the link with someone else
  • Zoom in and out
*There are other options on this bar however they will be discussed in an advanced e-book pathfinder
